Rising artist Jay Estrada has released his new single “Betrayed”, a vibrant blend of Afrobeat, Afro Soul, and Afro Pop. The track, released today, transforms a fleeting encounter into a soulful anthem of love, longing, and unreciprocated energy.
Inspired by a striking woman he spotted at a Florida mall, “Betrayed” took shape over a two-year writing process. Estrada dug deep into his memories to recreate the emotions of that day, resulting in a track full of heartfelt vulnerability. The song features an instrumental from collaborator Zena and was recorded at Atlanta’s Bravo Ocean Studios – Estrada’s first time working in a major studio. He penned the lyrics and sourced the instrumental himself, channeling the ache of giving your all to someone who doesn’t match your energy.
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Jay Estrada grew up immersed in old-school R&B, soul, and rap, sounds that became his refuge from life’s highs and lows starting at age 7. After moving to Florida in 2017, his passion for music deepened, leading him to write his first song, City Girl, over an Afrobeat in 2021. That track sparked a creative evolution, with Estrada honing a unique flow and lyrical style influenced by Afrobeat, Afro Soul, and Afro Pop. His music, deeply rooted in personal experiences, especially from his Florida years, aims to connect with listeners on a profound level.
